About Us
SmartParent is a merge of our original SmartMom and SmartParent programs, which were developed to provide prenatal and parenting education through text messaging to new and expectant parents in BC. SmartParent has been developed by academic researchers from UBC in collaboration with the BC Ministry of Health, BC Health Authorities, and in consultation with parents, nurses, midwives, family practice physicians, obstetricians, pediatricians, psychologists, educators, policy planners, and researchers.
Canadian technology company, MEMOTEXT, helped us build the tools to deliver SmartParent. SmartParent is grateful for the generous support of its funders: The BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, BC Children's Hospital Foundation, The UBC Hampton Research Endowment Fund, The Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies, the Daymark Foundation, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. SmartParent is endorsed by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) and the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS).
